Like those among the early church, the community called The Arbor shares time, space, belongings, finances, and life with one another. Individuals within The Arbor commit to living their lives guided by traditional practices of Christian faith such as hospitality, prayer, discernment, worship, fellowship, forgiveness, and simple living.
In an effort to obey God’s command to “Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, mind, spirit and strength and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves,” the founders of Hyaets are eager to minister to, with, and among people in our community. We are passionate about serving the community in which we live, specifically the inner-city community of Charlotte, NC. We strive to form relationships and partnerships with the people in our community, learning with our neighbors how to best serve God and others.
The Seed Exchange branch of Hyaets seeks to form connections and partnerships with local congregations, associations, and families. Ministry is meant to be done together and for the benefit of all. Seed Exchange exists so enable congregations to learn together and connect with one another and with the ministries of Hyaets.
Hyaets future dream involves a place for retreats - a retreat center where neighbors can learn skills, participate in discipleship with one another, and learn more about a community way of life. The Little Tree Retreat Center will be a place of learning, Sabbath keeping, recreation, and relaxation. An idyllic setting for Little Tree would be several hundred acres in the mountain of North Carolina close enough to urban Charlotte, but distant enough to be a true place of retreat. Though Little Tree does not yet exist in place, Hyaets does work towards this dream through creating retreat experiences for neighbors and church congregations.
The Well is concerned with inspiring and enriching community by offering resources for church congregations, para-church and religious organizations, and other service-minded groups. For several years, The Well has consisted primarily of a ministry newsletter. Inside this newsletter, you will find creative writings, editorials, handy tips and information, updates about Hyaets, and more. However, The Well is also committed to creating, compiling, and enabling other resources, such as study materials, teaching aides, curricula, and reading/prayer guides.
